Moving Mountains: Weilding the Power of a Thousand Suns (Mark 11:20-25)Presented by Jace Broadhurst My guess is that you do pray with some regularity. You pray for God to be with your kids and for a parking place near the store and for God to somehow nourish your body despite those cheetos and pizza you are eating. But statistics show that most people don't have a clue what real prayer is about. Very few wrestle with God in prayer. And very few really believe in the power they wield with prayer. I don't want to admonish you for your lack of prayer this week, I want to encourage you with what you have. You have the greatest weapon any arsenal has ever had and God longs to work through the prayers of his people. I cant wait to tell you a few practical things I have learned in the last couple of months but mostly I want to remind you that your God is awesome and he wants to hear from you and work on your behalf. People have hurt you and you can't seem to let go of it. Unity isn't always easy. Sadly, people in the church are often those who hurt you the most. Praying with others isn't always easy because others are those who have hurt you and you haven't yet figured out how to forgive. You wont find all the answers here but it is an open and frank discussion about lack of forgiveness hindering our prayers from Mark 11:22-25. I pray that God will convict my church family and other listeners regarding the small (and perhaps big) grudges they still hold and that He will bind us together as Christians and prayer warriors. But what about a mom and dad? And what about a church? Our children have teachers and counselors at school, pastors and ministers at church, instructors and coaches at activities, and moms and dads at home. The question is, which one is more influential? This Sunday, you will hear how vitally important a child's instruction is in the home and how parents have been charged with the primary responsibilty of bringing that child to know the Lord with the support of the local church. All that emotional stuff just drives me crazy. I am learning to like it more and I do tear up from time to time now but in general, emotional people and I dont mesh well. Now having said that, our passage this week is about a very emotional Jesus--one who cries, one who gets angry, one who lashes out. There is a lot of emotion flying around this week and it is all wrapped up in an old world that is being done away with. Judaism and its law and temple have been fulfilled and it is causing a serious ripple in Jerusalem. Its actually a pretty exciting ripple that brings more than a little bit of emotion even to my face (often devoid of emotion). Listen to this sermon about a king entering Jerusalem and going on a rampage.
