Preceding Holy War

April 22, 2007, 7:45 am

Before we enter into holy war, we must seek Gods will, we must prepare ourselves spiritually and we must have a strategy. Israel did each of these, calling on the Lord for help, being circumcized and sacrificing, and by following Gods "strange" strategy of being trapped between Pharaoh and the Sea. Part of the Exodus series.

Why All the Ritual?

April 15, 2007, 7:46 am

seems our world isnt interested in repetition and ritual. People think if we do things over and over again we stop meaning it. Passover was celebrated annually and was transformed by Christ in the Lords supper. Now we as a church celebrate this sacrament every month. Why all the ritual? Listen to the sermon and find out. Part of the Exodus series.

Easter and the Plagues of Judgment

April 8, 2007, 7:47 am

You wouldnt think Easter is a time to talk about judgment, but the easter story includes great judgment. In the Book of Exodus God punished Egypt for the abuse they heaped on his firstborn son Israel. In the Gospels, the world again abuses Gods firstborn son Jesus but instead of punishing the world, he punished his son. Seem crazy? But by Christ death, God guaranteed the salvation of all who believe. But a distinction exists between Egypt (the world) and Israel (the saints) and judgment is still planned for Egypt (those who do not belong to Christ). The resurrection seals our victory and guarantees us the hope of our own resurrection. Part of the Exodus series.

The Battle of the Snakes

April 1, 2007, 7:48 am

Here we have compared the triumphal entry of Christ to the entry of Moses in Exodus 7. This sign foreshadows the 10 wonders/plagues that follow. Moses uses a piece of wood to destroy the sorceror's snakes and God used a piece of wood in the form of a cross to crush the serpent. While Satans power is severely limited and the result of the battle is sure, he is still dangerous and we need to be alert and not give him a foothold. Part of the Exodus series.
