Steeled Prayer in Gethsemane and Beyond: for Guarding Yourself and Building His Church (Mark 14:32-42)

Christian had only just been relieved of his burden and now there in the path were three men in chains. Their names were Simple, Slumber and Presumption. They were not alert, they were lazy, they were independent -- and they will never make it to the Celestial City. We all know the road is hard, but what precautions do we take to steel ourselves in regard to our goal? The disciples have traveled for three years with Jesus himself and they still don't get it. They are either lazy, presumptuous, or they refuse to recognize the war in which they must be engaged. What they need is dedicated and committed prayer. Christians, if your prayer life looks anything like mine--falling asleep, distracted, filled with activities that pull us away, then you might need to hear what Mark and the Holy Spirit have to tell you this week.
