The Battle of Gethsemane (Mark 14:32-42)While I don't know the skies above Japan, the rice patties in Vietnam, or the hills in Afghanistan, I have been in my share of battles. None of them have left me sweating, as it were, drops of blood. But they have been intense battles all the same. Battles with Satan, battles with the world, and mostly, it seems, battles with myself. Maybe you battle to keep from discouragement, battle to show proper love to your wife, battle not to yield to lust on the computer or in real life, battle to pray and read the Bible, battle to respect leaders and bosses and husbands. Do you have any of these battles? In Mark 14, Jesus battles depression--he battles his desire to not be humiliated and crushed. Its a terribly painful battle that he gets through. This sermon will tell you how you too can get through these difficult battles.
