I AM

God answers Moses' first two concerns by revealing himself in a new way. While this is not a new name, it does show something about God that hasnt been emphasized as of yet: that Yhwh is a redeeming, recreating, saving, delivering (all mean the same thing) God. This God is personal and powerful and while this tension is difficult to understand, it is important that we recognize and wrestle with it. Jesus, God in flesh, is personal in that he humbled himself but he is powerful for when he says "I am" people fall over. He demands that we understand who he is: not a great moral teacher, but the LORD, God of the Universe. Part of the Exodus series.
